About ФАЛВАКС

ФАЛВАКС — is a medicinal product containing fulvestrant as the active ingredient. The drug belongs to the group of estrogen receptor antagonists.

Composition

Each prefilled syringe contains 250 mg of fulvestrant (volume 5 ml). Auxiliary components include 96% ethanol, benzyl alcohol, benzyl benzoate, and castor oil.

Indications

The drug is used as monotherapy for women in postmenopause with locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer that is positive for estrogen receptors. This applies to patients who have not received hormonal therapy before or whose disease is progressing despite or after treatment with aromatase inhibitors.

Also, ФАЛВАКС is used in combination with palbociclib for the treatment of HR-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer in women who have already undergone endocrine therapy. In cases of premenopause or perimenopause, such combined therapy must be supplemented with an LHRH agonist.

Pharmacological Properties

Fulvestrant blocks the trophic action of estrogens without exhibiting estrogen-like activity. The mechanism of action involves reducing the level of estrogen receptors (ER).

Clinical studies have shown that the drug significantly reduces the expression of ER and progesterone receptors in tumors. It has been proven that a dose of 500 mg is more effective in reducing ER and the Ki67 proliferation marker than a dose of 250 mg.
