About ФУЛВЕСТРАНТ

ФУЛВЕСТРАНТ is a medicinal product used in oncology practice. The drug is available in the form of pre-filled syringes for injection.

Composition

Each 5 mL syringe contains 250 mg of the active substance - fulvestrant. The auxiliary components include 96% ethanol, benzyl alcohol, benzyl benzoate, and refined rapeseed oil.

Indications

The drug is prescribed as monotherapy for the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer with estrogen-positive receptors in women postmenopause. This applies to patients who have not undergone hormonal therapy before, or those for whom the disease progressed during or after antiestrogen therapy.

Also, ФУЛВЕСТРАНТ is used in combination with palbociclib for the treatment of estrogen-receptor-positive and HER2-negative breast cancer in women who have already received endocrine therapy. In patients in pre- or perimenopause, such combined therapy must be supplemented with an LHRH agonist.

Pharmacological Properties

Fulvestrant acts as a competitive antagonist of estrogen receptors, blocking the trophic action of estrogens without showing estrogen-like activity. The mechanism of action is based on negative regulation of estrogen receptor protein levels in tumors.

Clinical studies have shown that the drug significantly reduces the levels of estrogen and progesterone receptors. It has been proven that a dose of 500 mg is more effective compared to a dose of 250 mg.
