ФУЛВЕДЖЕКТ — is a medicinal product containing fulvestrant as the active ingredient. The drug belongs to the group of antiestrogenic agents and is used in oncology.

Composition

Each pre-filled syringe of 5 mL volume contains 250 mg of fulvestrant. The auxiliary components include 96% ethanol, benzyl alcohol, benzyl benzoate, and castor oil.

Indications

The drug is prescribed as monotherapy for the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer with estrogen-positive receptors in postmenopausal women. This applies to patients who have not received endocrine therapy before or whose disease progressed during or after antiestrogen therapy.

FULVENEKT is also used in combination with palbociclib for the treatment of HR-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer in women who have already undergone endocrine therapy. In the case of treatment of women in premenopause or perimenopause, such a combination is supplemented with an LHRH agonist.

Pharmacological Properties

Fulvestrant acts as a competitive antagonist of estrogen receptors, blocking the trophic action of estrogens without showing agonistic activity. The mechanism of action is based on negative regulation of the level of estrogen receptor proteins in the tissue.

Clinical studies have shown that the drug significantly reduces the level of estrogen and progesterone receptor proteins. It has been proven that a dose of 500 mg provides more pronounced suppression compared to a dose of 250 mg.
