About ЦЕФТРИАКСОН 500

ЦЕФТРИАКСОН 500 is an antibacterial drug, the active substance of which is ceftriaxone in the form of a sterile sodium salt. The agent is used for the treatment of a wide spectrum of bacterial infections in adults and children, including newborns.

Composition

The drug contains the active substance ceftriaxone (in the form of sterile ceftriaxone sodium salt). One vial contains 1000 mg of the active component.

Indications

The drug is prescribed for bacterial meningitis, community-acquired and hospital-acquired pneumonia, acute otitis media, intra-abdominal infections, as well as complicated urinary tract infections, including pyelonephritis. It is also effective for infections of the bones, joints, skin and soft tissues, gonorrhea, syphilis, and bacterial endocarditis.

Ceftriaxone is used for the treatment of exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, disseminated Lyme borreliosis, fever in patients with neutropenia, and bacteremia. In addition, the drug is used for preoperative infection prophylaxis. If necessary, the drug is prescribed in combination with other antibiotics.

Pharmacological properties

The mechanism of action of the drug consists of inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins. This disrupts peptidoglycan biosynthesis, which leads to the death of the bacterial cell.

Bacterial resistance to ceftriaxone can occur due to the action of beta-lactamases, reduced affinity of penicillin-binding proteins, impermeability of the outer membrane of gram-negative bacteria, or the presence of efflux pumps.
