ЦЕФОПЕРАЗОН НАТРІЮ СТЕРИЛЬНИЙ is an antibacterial drug belonging to the cephalosporin group. It exerts a bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, which leads to their death.

Composition

The active substance of the drug is cefoperazone. One vial contains 1000 mg of cefoperazone in the form of a sodium salt.

Indications

The drug is prescribed for the treatment of infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to it. These include respiratory and urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections (peritonitis, cholecystitis, cholangitis), septicemia, and meningitis.

The agent is also used for infections of the skin, soft tissues, bones, and joints. It is effective for inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs, endometritis, gonorrhea, and other genital tract infections. In addition, the drug is used for the prevention of complications after surgical interventions in gynecology, abdominal, cardiovascular, and orthopedic surgery.

Pharmacological properties

Cefoperazone demonstrates activity against a wide spectrum of clinically significant microorganisms and resistance to the effects of many beta-lactamases. Numerous gram-positive bacteria are sensitive to the drug, including staphylococci (Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis) and various types of streptococci (including pneumococci and enterococci).

Among gram-negative microorganisms, sensitivity is shown by Escherichia coli, representatives of the genera Klebsiella, Enterobacter, Citrobacter, Providencia, as well as Haemophilus influenzae, Proteus mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris, and Morganella morganii.
