About CEFAZOLIN 500
CEFAZOLIN 500 is a semi-synthetic antibiotic belonging to the first generation of cephalosporins. The drug is intended for parenteral administration and has a pronounced bactericidal effect.
Composition
The active substance of the drug is cefazolin (in the form of sodium salt). One vial contains 1000 mg of cefazolin.
Indications
The medicinal product is used to treat infections caused by sensitive microorganisms. Specifically, it is effective in respiratory tract infections, urinary and genital system infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections. The drug is also used for sepsis, endocarditis, biliary tract infections, and for the prevention of surgical infections.
Pharmacological Properties
The mechanism of action of the drug involves blocking the biosynthesis of mucoprotein in the bacterial cell wall by inhibiting the enzyme transpeptidase. Cefazolin has a wide range of action and is effective against many gram-positive (including Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp.) and gram-negative microorganisms (including Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Proteus mirabilis).
