About MINT-IRBESARTAN
MINT-IRBESARTAN is a prescription medication containing the active ingredient Irbesartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and diabetic nephropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Key Benefits & Uses
- Treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension) to lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney disease.
- Slowing the progression of diabetic nephropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes to reduce the risk of kidney damage and failure.
- Prevention of cardiovascular events in patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy.
Active Ingredient & Action
Irbesartan works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor, which is a part of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS). This leads to vasodilation, decreased peripheral resistance, and reduced blood pressure. Additionally, Irbesartan has a protective effect on the kidneys by reducing proteinuria and slowing the progression of diabetic nephropathy.
Important Notes
Before taking MINT-IRBESARTAN, inform your doctor if you have any kidney problems, liver disease, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Regular blood pressure monitoring and kidney function tests are recommended during treatment. Do not stop taking MINT-IRBESARTAN without consulting your doctor, as this may lead to a sudden increase in blood pressure.
