About TUZEMTY
TUZEMTY is a prescription medication containing the active ingredient DENOSUMAB, a human monoclonal antibody that selectively binds to and inhibits the activity of osteoclasts, the cells responsible for bone resorption.
Key Benefits & Uses
- TUZEMTY is indicated for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men at high risk of fracture, as well as for the treatment of bone loss in patients with multiple myeloma and bone metastases from solid tumors.
- TUZEMTY has been shown to increase bone mineral density and reduce the risk of vertebral and non-vertebral fractures.
- TUZEMTY is also indicated for the treatment of giant cell tumor of bone.
Active Ingredient & Action
DENOSUMAB works by binding to RANKL, a protein necessary for the formation, function, and survival of osteoclasts. By inhibiting RANKL, DENOSUMAB reduces the activity of osteoclasts, leading to a decrease in bone resorption and an increase in bone mineral density.
Important Notes
TUZEMTY is available in a prefilled syringe for subcutaneous injection. It is essential to follow the recommended dosing schedule and to have regular bone mineral density tests to monitor the effectiveness of treatment. Patients with a history of hypersensitivity reactions to DENOSUMAB or any of its excipients should not use TUZEMTY. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
