TECENTRIQ (atezolizumab) is a prescription medicine used to treat certain types of cancer, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and urothelial carcinoma (UC). It is a monoclonal antibody that targets the PD-L1 protein, helping the immune system recognize and fight cancer cells.

Key Benefits & Uses

• Treatment of metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with PD-L1 expression ≥ 1% in tumor cells, as determined by an FDA-approved test, in patients with disease progression during or following platinum-containing chemotherapy
• Treatment of locally advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma (UC) in patients who have disease progression during or following a platinum-containing chemotherapy, or in patients who have disease progression within 12 months of neoadjuvant or adjuvant treatment with platinum-containing chemotherapy

Active Ingredient & Action

Atezolizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that binds to the PD-L1 protein on cancer cells, preventing it from interacting with the PD-1 receptor on T cells. This interaction normally suppresses the immune response, but by blocking it, TECENTRIQ allows the immune system to recognize and attack cancer cells.
