Active Ingredient & Action
VANCOMYCIN INJECTION USP IN 0.9% SODIUM CHLORIDE contains vancomycin hydrochloride, a glycopeptide antibiotic that inhibits cell wall synthesis in susceptible bacteria. It binds to the D-alanyl-D-alanine terminus of cell wall precursors, preventing the incorporation of these precursors into the bacterial cell wall and ultimately leading to bacterial cell death.
