About FIRAZYR
FIRAZYR is a prescription medication used to treat acute attacks of hereditary angioedema (HAE) in adults. It is a bradykinin receptor antagonist that works by blocking the action of bradykinin, a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to dilate and leads to swelling.
Key Benefits & Uses
- Treatment of acute attacks of hereditary angioedema (HAE) in adults
- Relief from symptoms such as swelling of the face, extremities, gastrointestinal tract, and airways
- Reduction of the risk of complications associated with HAE attacks
Active Ingredient & Action
FIRAZYR contains the active ingredient ICATIBANT (ICATIBANT ACETATE), a selective bradykinin receptor antagonist. When administered subcutaneously, ICATIBANT binds to bradykinin B2 receptors, blocking the action of bradykinin and reducing the severity of HAE symptoms.
