Product Overview
About REVOLADE
REVOLADE is a prescription medication containing the active ingredient Eltrombopag Olamine, a thrombopoietin receptor agonist. It is used to treat low platelet count (thrombocytopenia) in patients with chronic immune (idiopathic) thrombocytopenia purpura (ITP) and to reduce the risk of bleeding in patients with chronic liver disease who are undergoing procedures.
Key Benefits & Uses
- Treatment of low platelet count (thrombocytopenia) in patients with chronic immune (idiopathic) thrombocytopenia purpura (ITP)
- Reduction of the risk of bleeding in patients with chronic liver disease who are undergoing procedures
Active Ingredient & Action
Eltrombopag Olamine works by stimulating the production of platelets in the bone marrow, thereby increasing platelet count and reducing the risk of bleeding. It binds to the thrombopoietin receptor on the surface of megakaryocytes, promoting platelet production and maturation.
Important Notes
REVOLADE should only be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional. Patients should be monitored regularly for signs of thrombocytosis, and the medication should be discontinued if platelet counts exceed 400 x 10^9/L. Common side effects include headache, nausea, and diarrhea. Patients with a history of hepatitis or liver disease should be closely monitored for signs of liver damage.
