Product Overview
About ELFY
ELFY is a hormonal contraceptive medication containing a combination of NORETHINDRONE ACETATE and ETHINYL ESTRADIOL, used to prevent pregnancy. It is a type of oral contraceptive pill (OCP) that works by altering the hormonal balance in the body to prevent ovulation.
Key Benefits & Uses
- Prevention of pregnancy and contraception
- Regulation of menstrual cycles and reduction of menstrual cramps
- Reduction of risk of ovarian cysts and endometrial cancer
Active Ingredient & Action
NORETHINDRONE ACETATE, a progestin, works by thickening the cervical mucus, making it difficult for sperm to reach the egg. ETHINYL ESTRADIOL, an estrogen, suppresses the release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which in turn reduces the production of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). This prevents ovulation and maintains the endometrium in a state that is unfavorable for implantation of a fertilized egg.
Important Notes
ELFY should be taken exactly as directed by your healthcare provider to ensure its effectiveness. It is essential to use a backup method of contraception, such as condoms, during the first week of taking ELFY. You should not take ELFY if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Inform your healthcare provider about any medical conditions, allergies, or medications you are taking before starting ELFY.
