OZEMPIC
Active Ingredient: SEMAGLUTIDE
Product Overview
About OZEMPIC
OZEMPIC is a prescription medication containing the active ingredient semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. It is used to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and to manage body weight in adults with obesity or overweight with at least one weight-related condition.
Key Benefits & Uses
- Improves glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus
- Reduces body weight in adults with obesity or overweight with at least one weight-related condition
- May reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events in adults with established cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors
Active Ingredient & Action
SEMAGLUTIDE works by mimicking the action of the natural hormone GLP-1, which helps to regulate blood sugar levels and appetite. It binds to GLP-1 receptors in the pancreas, stomach, and brain, leading to increased insulin secretion, reduced glucagon secretion, and delayed gastric emptying. This results in improved glycemic control and weight loss.
Important Notes
OZEMPIC should be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional. It may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and injection site reactions. Patients with a history of pancreatitis, thyroid C-cell tumors, or a family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma should be monitored closely. OZEMPIC is not recommended for use in patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or in those with a personal history of pancreatitis.
