Product Overview
About ZAMINE 21
ZAMINE 21 is a hormonal contraceptive medication containing a combination of ETHINYL ESTRADIOL and DROSPIRENONE. It is used to prevent pregnancy and is available in the form of oral tablets.
Key Benefits & Uses
- Prevents pregnancy by inhibiting ovulation and thickening cervical mucus to prevent sperm penetration.
- Reduces menstrual cramps and heavy menstrual bleeding.
- May help regulate menstrual cycles and reduce the risk of ovarian cysts.
Active Ingredient & Action
ETHINYL ESTRADIOL, a synthetic estrogen, works by inhibiting the release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) from the hypothalamus, which in turn reduces the production of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the pituitary gland. This leads to a decrease in estrogen production by the ovaries, preventing ovulation and fertilization. DROSPIRENONE, a progestin, works by thickening cervical mucus, making it difficult for sperm to penetrate the uterus, and also by thinning the lining of the uterus, making it less receptive to implantation.
Important Notes
ZAMINE 21 is available by prescription only and should be taken exactly as directed by your healthcare provider. It is essential to use a reliable method of birth control and to have regular check-ups with your healthcare provider to monitor your health and adjust your treatment plan as needed. Do not use ZAMINE 21 if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have a history of blood clots, high blood pressure, or liver disease.
