About TOLKIMADO

TOLKIMADO is a medicinal product belonging to the group of central-acting muscle relaxants. The drug contains the active substance tolperisone in a dosage of 150 mg.

Composition

Each tablet contains 150 mg of tolperisone. Auxiliary components include citric acid, microcrystalline cellulose, monohydrate lactose, cornstarch, colloidal anhydrous silica, talc, and stearic acid. The film coating is composed of hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E171), and macrogol.

Indications

The drug is intended for symptomatic treatment of muscle spasms in adult patients who have had a stroke.

Pharmacological properties

Tolperisone acts as a central-acting muscle relaxant, accumulating mainly in the trunk of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nervous system. Its main therapeutic effect lies in the inhibition of spinal reflex pathways.

By its chemical structure, the drug resembles lidocaine and exerts a membrane-stabilizing effect. It reduces the electrical excitability of motor neurons and afferent fibers, dose-dependently inhibiting the activity of sodium channels, which reduces the amplitude and frequency of action potentials.
