ТАМОКСИФЕНУ ЦИТРАТ is a tablet medication containing tamoxifen.
Composition
Active ingredient: tamoxifen — 10 mg or 20 mg per 1 tablet. Excipients: potato starch, lactose monohydrate, calcium stearate, povidone, anhydrous colloidal silicon dioxide.
Indications
The drug is used for breast cancer and endometrial cancer in women. It is also used as adjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer with lymph node involvement in women and for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer in women and men.
Pharmacological properties
Tamoxifen is a potent non-steroidal estrogen antagonist that can exhibit partial or full agonist properties depending on the body tissues and animal species. In humans, the anti-estrogenic effect prevails, which is associated with the binding of tamoxifen to the hormone-binding domain of the estrogen receptor and the blocking of estradiol action. When taken orally, the drug is rapidly absorbed, and its maximum plasma concentration is reached within 4–7 hours; a steady-state concentration is formed after 4–6 weeks of therapy.
