About SULFA-Q

SULFA-Q is a prescription medication containing the active ingredients Pyrimethamine and Sulfadoxine. It is used to treat and prevent malaria, a serious and sometimes life-threatening disease caused by Plasmodium parasites.

Active Ingredient & Action

Pyrimethamine and Sulfadoxine in SULFA-Q work synergistically to inhibit the growth of Plasmodium parasites. Pyrimethamine acts by inhibiting dihydrofolate reductase, an enzyme necessary for the synthesis of tetrahydrofolate, while Sulfadoxine inhibits dihydropteroate synthase, another enzyme involved in folate synthesis. This dual action leads to the inhibition of parasite growth and replication.
