About SPORAĞAL

SPORAĞAL contains itraconazole, an antifungal active substance.

Composition

Active substance: itraconazole. One capsule contains 100 mg of itraconazole in the form of pellets. Excipients: hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, acrylate copolymer, sucrose, polyethylene glycol 20000; capsule composition: gelatin, titanium dioxide (E 171), indigotin (E 132).

Indications

SPORAĞAL is used for vulvovaginal and oropharyngeal candidiasis, pityriasis versicolor, dermatomycoses caused by itraconazole-sensitive pathogens, as well as for onychomycoses caused by dermatophytes and/or yeasts.

The drug is also prescribed for histoplasmosis, systemic mycoses, including aspergillosis and candidiasis, as well as cryptococcosis, including cryptococcal meningitis. Itraconazole is used for maintenance therapy of patients with AIDS to prevent recurrence of fungal infection and for prevention of fungal infections in patients with prolonged neutropenia, if standard therapy is insufficient.

Pharmacological properties

Itraconazole inhibits fungal 14α-demethylase. This reduces the level of ergosterol and disrupts the formation of the fungal membrane.

The pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic relationship of itraconazole and triazoles in general has been insufficiently studied. Resistance to azoles usually develops slowly and may be associated with several genetic mutations, including overexpression or changes in ERG11 and increased efflux of itraconazole from fungal cells.
