СОНМІЛ is used for occasional and transient insomnia in adults.
Pharmacological properties
Doxylamine succinate is an H1-histamine receptor blocker of the ethanolamine class, which causes sedative and atropine-like effects. It reduces the time required to fall asleep and also helps improve the duration and quality of sleep.
The maximum plasma concentration of doxylamine succinate is reached on average 2 hours after administration. The average half-life is 10 hours. The substance is partially metabolized in the liver by demethylation and N-acetylation, and about 60% of the administered dose is excreted in the urine unchanged.
The half-life may be significantly increased in elderly individuals, as well as in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
