About Sanaxon T-1000
Sanaxon T-1000 is a combination antibacterial medicine containing ceftriaxone and sulbactam. It treats a wide range of infections through the combined action of a third-generation cephalosporin and a beta-lactamase inhibitor.
Composition
One vial contains 1000 mg ceftriaxone (as the sodium salt) and 500 mg sulbactam (as the sodium salt).
Indications
The medicine is used for infections of the respiratory tract, kidneys, urinary tract, abdominal organs, soft tissues, skin, bones and joints. It is also prescribed for meningitis, acute bacterial otitis, septicaemia and gonorrhoea, and for prevention of infectious complications during surgery.
Pharmacological properties
Ceftriaxone inhibits mucopeptide biosynthesis in the cell membrane of actively multiplying bacteria. Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that helps overcome resistance to penicillins and cephalosporins.
Through synergistic action, the medicine shows increased efficacy against many microbial strains. Sulbactam alone is also active against some gram-positive aerobes and other susceptible bacteria.
