About SALAZOPYRIN EN-TABS

SALAZOPYRIN EN-TABS is a medicinal product containing sulfasalazine, which is used for the treatment of ulcerative colitis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Composition

The product contains the active substance sulfasalazine at a dose of 500 mg, which corresponds to 535 mg of sulfasalazine with povidone. Excipients include pregelatinized starch, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silica, cellulose acetate phthalate, propylene glycol, talc, macrogol, carnauba wax, glycerol monostearate, and white wax.

Indications

SALAZOPYRIN EN-TABS is used for the treatment of mild to moderate ulcerative colitis, as well as adjunctive therapy for severe ulcerative colitis. The drug is also used for the treatment of patients with rheumatoid arthritis for whom salicylates or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs have been insufficiently effective.

Pharmacological properties

The mechanism of action of sulfasalazine and its metabolites, 5-aminosalicylic acid and sulfapyridine, may be related to anti-inflammatory and/or immunomodulatory properties. Clinical studies have shown that the primary therapeutic effect may be attributed to the 5-aminosalicylic acid molecule.
