MILEY 21 is a combined oral contraceptive medication containing the active ingredients ETHINYL ESTRADIOL and DESOGESTREL. It is used for the prevention of pregnancy in women of childbearing age.

Active Ingredient & Action

ETHINYL ESTRADIOL, a synthetic estrogen, works by suppressing the release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) from the hypothalamus, which in turn reduces the production of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the pituitary gland. This leads to a decrease in estrogen and progesterone levels, preventing ovulation and fertilization. DESOGESTREL, a progestin, further enhances the contraceptive effect by thickening cervical mucus and making it more difficult for sperm to reach the egg.
