About Infanrix Hexa Combined Vaccine for Prevention of Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (Acellular Component), Hepatitis B, Poliomyelitis and Diseases Caused by Haemophilus influenzae Type B

Infanrix Hexa is a combination vaccine intended for prevention of diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, poliomyelitis and diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type B. The vaccine is used as a suspension for injection.

Composition

One dose of the vaccine contains the active substances diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid and pertussis antigens (pertussis toxoid, filamentous haemagglutinin, pertactin), as well as the excipients sodium chloride, aluminium hydroxide and water for injections. Formaldehyde is present in residual amounts as a result of the manufacturing process.

Indications

Infanrix vaccine is indicated for active primary immunisation against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis in children from 2 months of age. It is also used as a booster dose for children previously immunised with three or four doses of a diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis vaccine.

Pharmacological properties

Infanrix is adsorbed on aluminium hydroxide, which helps ensure its stability and efficacy. The vaccine is administered by injection.
