ЦЕФУРОКСИМ 750 МГ is an antibacterial drug intended for the treatment of infectious diseases in adults and children, including newborns. The agent effectively combats bacterial infections of various localizations.

Composition

The active substance of the drug is cefuroxime in the form of cefuroxime sodium. One vial contains 0.75 g of the active component.

Indications

The drug is used for community-acquired pneumonia and exacerbations of chronic bronchitis. It is also effective for complicated urinary tract infections, including pyelonephritis, as well as soft tissue and abdominal infections.

ЦЕФУРОКСИМ 750 МГ is used for the prevention of infectious complications after surgical interventions on the gastrointestinal tract, cardiovascular system, as well as after gynecological and orthopedic operations. When treating anaerobic infections, the drug should be combined with other antibacterial agents.

Pharmacological properties

The mechanism of action of the drug consists of inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins. This leads to the cessation of peptidoglycan biosynthesis, which causes the death of bacterial cells.

Resistance of microorganisms to cefuroxime may occur due to hydrolysis by beta-lactamases, reduced affinity of proteins for the drug, impermeability of the outer membrane, or the activity of efflux pump systems. Organisms resistant to other injectable cephalosporins are usually also resistant to this drug.
