About ТРОСАН

ТРОСАН is a medicinal product containing losartan potassium as the active ingredient. The product belongs to the group of angiotensin II receptor antagonists and is intended for oral administration.

Composition

Each tablet of ТРОСАН contains 25 mg, 50 mg, or 100 mg of losartan potassium. The auxiliary components include microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, pre-gelatinized starch, hydroxypropyl cellulose low substitution, magnesium stearate, and Opadry White 20A58900.

Indications

The drug is used for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults, as well as in children and adolescents aged 6 to 18 years. ТРОСАН is indicated for adult patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes with proteinuria ≥ 0.5 g per day, as part of antihypertensive therapy.

Also, the agent is used for the treatment of chronic heart failure in adults if the use of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors is impossible or contraindicated. Additionally, the drug helps reduce the risk of stroke in adult patients with hypertension and confirmed ECG left ventricular hypertrophy.

Pharmacological Properties

Losartan is a synthetic angiotensin II receptor antagonist (type AT1). Angiotensin II is a potent vasoconstrictor and a key hormone of the renin-angiotensin system, playing an important role in the pathophysiology of arterial hypertension.

The drug selectively binds to AT1 receptors, blocking the effects of angiotensin II, such as vasoconstriction and aldosterone release. This action is provided by both losartan itself and its active metabolite, E-3174, a carboxylic acid.
