About TRIXILOR
TRIXILOR is an antibacterial drug for oral administration belonging to the cephalosporin group. Its action is aimed at combating a wide range of infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to cefixime.
Composition
Each tablet contains 400 mg of the active substance — cefixime in the form of trihydrate. Excipients include microcrystalline cellulose, pregelatinized starch, dibasic calcium phosphate (dihydrate), magnesium stearate, and a film coating "Opadry AMB White OY-B-28920" (or equivalent), which consists of polyvinyl alcohol, titanium dioxide, talc, lecithin, and xanthan gum.
Indications
The drug is intended for adults and children aged 12 years and older (weighing over 50 kg). It is used for infections of the upper and lower respiratory tracts, including pharyngitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia. TRIXILOR is also effective in the treatment of ENT infections (tonsillitis, otitis media) and diseases of the kidneys and urinary tract.
Pharmacological properties
Cefixime has a pronounced bactericidal effect, which is achieved by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. The drug is resistant to the action of beta-lactamases and is active against many gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens, such as Streptococcus, Haemophilus, Neisseria, Escherichia, Klebsiella, Proteus, and others. At the same time, most strains of Pseudomonas, Listeria monocytogenes, and Clostridia show resistance to this antibiotic.
