About TOKKATA
TOKKATA is a medicinal product belonging to the group of central-acting myorelaxants. The drug is released in the form of coated tablets with varying content of the active substance.
Composition
The active component of the drug is tolperisone hydrochloride in a dosage of 50 mg or 150 mg. Auxiliary substances include lactose monohydrate, cornstarch, microcrystalline cellulose, talc, stearic acid, colloidal anhydrous silica, and citric acid. The tablet coating consists of hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E 171), and macrogol.
Indications
The drug is intended for symptomatic treatment of muscle spasms in adult patients who have had a stroke.
Pharmacological properties
Tolperisone acts as a central-acting myorelaxant, accumulating mainly in the trunk of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nervous system. Its therapeutic effect is caused by the inhibition of spinal reflex pathways and influence on descending conduction pathways.
Due to its membrane-stabilizing action, similar to lidocaine, the drug reduces the electrical excitability of motor neurons. Tolperisone dose-dependently inhibits the activity of sodium and calcium channels, leading to a decrease in the amplitude and frequency of action potentials.
