About TEOPEK

TEOPEK contains theophylline as the active ingredient. The drug is used for conditions accompanied by impaired respiratory system function.

Composition

Active ingredient: theophylline — 300 mg per tablet, calculated as 100% dry substance. Excipients: composite polymer carrier — interpolymer complex of polymethacrylic acid and polyethylene glycol, as well as calcium stearate.

Indications

TEOPEK is indicated for bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, including chronic obstructive bronchitis and pulmonary emphysema. The drug is also used for pulmonary hypertension and central sleep apnea syndrome.

Pharmacological properties

Theophylline acts by non-selective inhibition of phosphodiesterase. Inhibition of type III phosphodiesterase increases the concentration of cAMP in the myofibrils of large and medium bronchi and bronchioles, contributing to a decrease in the concentration of calcium ions in the cytosol. Inhibition of type IV phosphodiesterase suppresses the function of mast cells, eosinophils, and T-lymphocytes.

At therapeutic concentrations, theophylline blocks bronchoconstrictor adenosine A1 receptors and, to a lesser extent, bronchodilator A2 receptors. It also stimulates the respiratory center, enhancing lung ventilation by increasing the contractility of intercostal…
