ТАМОКСИФЕН "ЕБЕВЕ" contains tamoxifen citrate equivalent to 20 mg of tamoxifen per tablet.
Composition
Active substance: tamoxifen citrate — 30.4 mg per tablet, which corresponds to 20 mg of tamoxifen. Excipients: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate.
Indications
The drug is used as adjuvant chemotherapy after primary treatment of breast cancer, as well as for metastatic breast cancer.
Pharmacological properties
Tamoxifen is a potent non-steroidal estrogen antagonist. Depending on the body tissue and animal species, it may exhibit partial or full agonist properties. In humans, the antiestrogenic effect prevails, which is associated with the binding of tamoxifen to the hormone-binding domain of the estrogen receptor and the blocking of estradiol action.
When administered orally, tamoxifen is rapidly absorbed. It reaches maximum plasma concentration 4–7 hours after intake, and steady-state concentration is reached after 4–6 weeks of therapy. After a single dose of tamoxifen in solution form, the maximum plasma concentration in male volunteers was 42 mcg/L, and for the metabolite N-desmethyltamoxifen, it was 12 mcg/L.
