SITAGLIPTIN is a prescription medication used to treat type 2 diabetes. It belongs to a class of medications known as dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors. These hormones help the body produce more insulin and decrease the amount of glucose produced by the liver, leading to improved glycemic control.

Important Notes

SITAGLIPTIN is not indicated for the treatment of type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. It is also not recommended for patients with a history of pancreatitis. Patients taking SITAGLIPTIN should be monitored for signs of pancreatitis, such as abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. SITAGLIPTIN may also increase the risk of acute kidney injury, especially in patients with pre-existing kidney disease. Patients should be advised to report any changes in kidney function to their healthcare provider.
