About СИМЕТИКОН

СИМЕТИКОН is a medicinal product that belongs to the group of antifoaming agents. The preparation is an inert substance based on silicon, which is not absorbed in the body and acts exclusively locally.

Composition

Each tablet contains 125 mg of the active substance — simethicone. Auxiliary components include aluminum hydroxide, lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, calcium hydrogen phosphate, stearic acid, colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide, crospovidone, povidone, tartrazine (E 102), and the "Opadry II white" mixture (titanium dioxide, talc, polyethylene glycol, polyvinyl alcohol).

Indications

The preparation is used for symptomatic treatment of digestive system disorders accompanied by excessive gas formation, in particular, in cases of meteorism and in the postoperative period. It is used as an auxiliary agent during preparation for diagnosis of abdominal cavity organs (ultrasound, X-ray, gastroduodenoscopy). The agent is also effective as an antifoaming agent in cases of poisoning with detergents or washing powders.

Pharmacological properties

Simethicone reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles in the intestine, leading to their destruction. The released gases are eliminated naturally or absorbed by the intestinal walls. During diagnostic procedures, the preparation prevents the appearance of image defects and promotes better distribution of the contrast agent on the mucous membrane.
