OCALIVA is a prescription medication containing the active ingredient Obeticholic Acid, indicated for the treatment of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC). PBC is a chronic liver disease characterized by progressive destruction of the bile ducts within the liver, leading to impaired bile flow and liver damage.

Important Notes

OCALIVA is available in 5mg and 10mg tablets. The recommended starting dose is 5mg once daily, which may be increased to 10mg once daily based on tolerability and response. Patients with severe renal impairment or those taking strong CYP2C8 inhibitors should be started at a dose of 5mg once daily. It is essential to monitor liver enzymes and bilirubin levels regularly during treatment with OCALIVA.
