Logest is a combined oral contraceptive with ethinylestradiol and gestodene.
Composition
Ethinylestradiol 20 micrograms and gestodene 75 micrograms per tablet with lactose, maize starch, povidone and other excipients.
Indications
Oral contraception; Pearl index 0.07 indicating high efficacy.
Pharmacological properties
Action depends on ovulation suppression, cervical mucus changes impeding sperm penetration and endometrial changes unfavourable to implantation. Acute toxicity studies showed no human risk at accidental overdose.
