About ЛАМІВІР

ЛАМІВІР is a prescription medication containing the active ingredient Lamivudine, a synthetic nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) used in the treatment of various viral infections, including HIV-1 and hepatitis B.

• Treatment of HIV-1 infection in combination with other antiretroviral agents.
• Treatment of chronic hepatitis B infection in adults with evidence of active viral replication and either evidence of persistent elevations in serum aminotransferases (AST and ALT) or histologically confirmed active liver inflammation.
• Prevention of maternal-fetal transmission of HIV-1 in pregnant women with evidence of HIV-1 infection and a CD4 cell count greater than 250 cells/mm^3.

Active Ingredient & Action

Lamivudine works by inhibiting the activity of reverse transcriptase, an enzyme essential for the replication of retroviruses such as HIV-1 and hepatitis B virus. By blocking this enzyme, Lamivudine prevents the viral DNA from being integrated into the host cell's DNA, thereby inhibiting viral replication and reducing the viral load in the body.
