ФУРАДОНІН is an antimicrobial medicinal product belonging to the group of nitrofurans and acts as a urinary antiseptic. The drug effectively inhibits the life activity of bacteria causing infections of the urinary tract by affecting their enzymatic systems.

Composition

Each tablet contains 100 mg of active substance - nitrofurantoin.

Indications

The drug is prescribed for the treatment of bacterial infections of the urinary tract, including pyelitis, pyelonephritis, cystitis, and urethritis. It is used both for the treatment of recurrences and for the prevention of infections during urological operations, cystoscopy, or catheterization.

Pharmacological Properties

Nitrofurantoin creates a high concentration in the bladder, ensuring its pronounced effectiveness in urinary tract infections. Depending on the concentration of the drug, it exhibits bacteriostatic or bactericidal action. Resistance to this agent develops rarely in bacteria.

Microorganisms sensitive to this agent include Escherichia coli, Enterococci, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Citrobacter spp, and Streptococci group B. Moderate sensitivity is observed in Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter spp, Proteus spp, and Providencia spp, while Pseudomonas is resistant to treatment.
