ФЛОКСАНЕКСТ is an ophthalmic preparation containing ofloxacin. It belongs to the group of fluoroquinolones and has pronounced bactericidal activity.

Composition

The active ingredient of the preparation is ofloxacin at a concentration of 3.0 mg per 1 ml of solution. Auxiliary components include benzalkonium chloride, sodium chloride, water for injection, and sodium hydroxide or hydrochloric acid for pH adjustment.

Indications

The product is intended for local treatment of external eye infections, including keratitis and conjunctivitis. The preparation is used in adults and children to combat microorganisms sensitive to ofloxacin. When using, it is advisable to follow official recommendations regarding the use of antibacterial agents.

Pharmacological Properties

Ofloxacin is a synthetic antibacterial agent that effectively acts on a wide range of gram-negative and some gram-positive microorganisms. The mechanism of action involves inhibition of DNA gyrase - an enzyme necessary for bacterial processes of transcription and DNA replication.

The preparation demonstrates high activity in vitro and in clinical practice against many strains of pathogenic microorganisms, such as Acinetobacter calcoaceticus, Enterobacter species, Haemophilis, and Klebsiella. Efficacy against Streptococcus pneumoniae is supported by limited clinical data.
