ФАРМАДЕКС is an ophthalmic drug whose active ingredient is sodium dexamethasone phosphate. The product belongs to the group of potent anti‑inflammatory agents that effectively reduce manifestations of inflammatory processes in the eye.

Composition

Each milliliter of the solution contains 1 mg of sodium dexamethasone phosphate. The excipients include boric acid, sodium tetraborate, disodium EDTA, benzalkonium chloride, and water for injections.

Indications

The drug is indicated for the treatment of non‑infectious inflammatory and allergic conditions that are responsive to steroids. It is used for injuries of the conjunctiva, cornea, and anterior segment of the eye, as well as to reduce inflammatory reactions in the postoperative period.

Pharmacological properties

Dexamethasone exerts a pronounced anti‑inflammatory effect by inhibiting cytokine release and cyclooxygenase activity. This prevents leukocyte infiltration into ocular tissues and reduces the formation of inflammatory mediators. The drug has minimal mineralocorticoid effects compared to other steroids.

After topical application, dexamethasone penetrates into the intraocular fluid. The maximum concentration of the active ingredient (approximately 30 ng/mL) is reached within 2 hours after instillation.
