About ФАМОКС

ФАМОКС is an antibacterial drug containing moxifloxacin as the active ingredient. The product is available in the form of an infusion solution.

Composition

One 250 ml vial contains 436 mg of moxifloxacin hydrochloride, equivalent to 400 mg of pure moxifloxacin. The auxiliary components include sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide, diluted hydrochloric acid, and sterile water for injection.

Indications

The drug is prescribed for the treatment of non-hospital pneumonia, as well as complicated skin and subcutaneous tissue infections. The use of ФАМОКС is advisable only when the use of other recommended antibiotics is not feasible. When prescribing, it is necessary to consider official recommendations regarding the rational use of antibacterial agents.

Pharmacological Properties

Moxifloxacin acts by inhibiting bacterial topoisomerases (DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV), which are essential for DNA replication, transcription, and repair. The effectiveness of the drug depends on the ratio of the area under the pharmacokinetic curve (AUC24) to the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC).

Resistance to the drug may develop through mutations in DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, as well as due to the activity of efflux pumps or reduced cellular permeability. Cross-resistance between moxifloxacin and other fluoroquinolones is possible.
