About ЦИЛПЕН
ЦИЛПЕН is a medicinal product consisting of two components: imipenem and cilastatin sodium. It is intended for the treatment of infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to the drug.
Composition
The composition of ЦИЛПЕН contains the active substances: imipenem and cilastatin. Each vial contains 500 mg of imipenem and 500 mg of cilastatin sodium. The excipient is sodium hydrogen carbonate.
Indications
ЦИЛПЕН is used for the treatment of intra-abdominal infections, lower respiratory tract infections, intranatal and postpartum infections, complicated infections of the genitourinary system, skin and soft tissues, bone and joint infections, septicemia, and endocarditis.
Pharmacological properties
Imipenem exhibits bactericidal activity by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria through binding to penicillin-binding proteins. Cilastatin sodium exerts a competitive, reversible, and specific action on dehydropeptidase-I, a renal enzyme that metabolizes and inactivates imipenem.
