About СИМБІКОРТ ТУРБУХАЛЕР

СИМБІКОРТ ТУРБУХАЛЕР is a combined medicinal product, consisting of formoterol and budesonide. These components have different mechanisms of action and provide an additive effect in reducing the frequency of bronchial asthma exacerbations. The drug is suitable for both maintenance therapy and relief of disease symptoms.

Composition

Each dose of the drug contains 160 mcg of micronized budesonide and 4.5 mcg of formoterol fumarate dihydrate.

Indications

СИМБІКОРТ ТУРБУХАЛЕР 80 mcg/4.5 mcg is prescribed for adults, adolescents, and children from 6 years old for regular treatment of asthma, when combination therapy is appropriate. It is used by patients whose condition is not adequately controlled by inhaled corticosteroids and short-acting β2-agonists, or those who already require a combination of corticosteroids and long-acting β2-agonists. Note that the dosage of 80 mcg/4.5 mcg is not suitable for the treatment of severe bronchial asthma.

Preparations in dosages of 160 mcg/4.5 mcg and 320 mcg/9 mcg are recommended for adults and children from 12 years old. They are used for regular therapy of asthma in cases where control of the disease with inhaled corticosteroids alone is insufficient.

Pharmacological Properties

Budesonide is a glucocorticosteroid that, when administered by inhalation, has an anti-inflammatory effect on the respiratory tract. This helps to reduce the severity of symptoms and decrease the frequency of asthma exacerbations, while causing fewer side effects compared to systemic corticosteroids.

Formoterol belongs to the group of selective β2-adrenergic agonists. Its combination with budesonide allows for effective control of the course of bronchial asthma.
