Product Overview
About MYOVIEW
MYOVIEW is a prescription medication containing the active ingredient Tetrofosmin, a technetium-99m labeled myocardial perfusion imaging agent. It is used in nuclear medicine to assess myocardial blood flow and identify areas of reduced perfusion in patients with suspected or known coronary artery disease.
Key Benefits & Uses
- Assesses myocardial blood flow and identifies areas of reduced perfusion in patients with suspected or known coronary artery disease.
- Helps in the diagnosis and risk stratification of patients with suspected coronary artery disease.
- May be used in conjunction with other diagnostic tests to evaluate the extent of coronary artery disease and guide treatment decisions.
Active Ingredient & Action
Tetrofosmin is a lipophilic cation that is taken up by viable myocardial cells. It is then oxidized to form a technetium-99m labeled compound, which is retained in the myocardium for several hours. The technetium-99m labeled compound emits gamma rays that can be detected by a gamma camera, allowing for the creation of images that show the distribution of blood flow to the myocardium.
Important Notes
MYOVIEW should only be used under the guidance of a qualified nuclear medicine physician. It is essential to follow the recommended dosing and administration guidelines to ensure accurate and safe imaging. Patients with certain medical conditions, such as kidney or liver disease, may require special consideration when using MYOVIEW. Consult the product labeling and consult with a healthcare professional for more information.
