About OZURDEX
OZURDEX is a corticosteroid medication used to treat various eye conditions, including non-infectious intermediate uveitis and posterior uveitis, and non-infectious intermediate uveitis and panuveitis. It is administered via intravitreal injection to reduce inflammation and prevent vision loss.
Key Benefits & Uses
- Treatment of non-infectious intermediate uveitis and posterior uveitis
- Treatment of non-infectious intermediate uveitis and panuveitis
- Reduction of inflammation in the eye to prevent vision loss
Active Ingredient & Action
OZURDEX contains the active ingredient DEXAMETHASONE, a synthetic corticosteroid that works by suppressing the immune system's response to inflammation in the eye. DEXAMETHASONE binds to glucocorticoid receptors, which then inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and other mediators of inflammation, thereby reducing inflammation and preventing tissue damage.
