CEFAZOLIN FOR INJECTION, USP is a sterile, lyophilized powder for reconstitution, containing the first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic cefazolin sodium. This product is used for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, and genitourinary tract infections.

Active Ingredient Mechanism
Cefazolin sodium exerts its antibacterial effects by inhibiting cell wall synthesis in susceptible bacteria. This results in the disruption of the bacterial cell wall, ultimately leading to cell lysis and death.
CEFAZOLIN FOR INJECTION, USP is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cefazolin or other cephalosporins. Appropriate fluid and electrolyte replacement should be administered to patients receiving cefazolin, especially those with pre-existing renal impairment.
