Product Overview
About LOVENOX HP
LOVENOX HP is a prescription medication containing the active ingredient Enoxaparin Sodium, a low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) used to prevent and treat blood clots. It is administered via subcutaneous injection and is available in various strengths.
Key Benefits & Uses
- Prevention and treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) in patients undergoing major orthopedic surgery, such as hip or knee replacement.
- Prophylaxis and treatment of DVT and PE in medical patients with severely restricted mobility or at increased risk of thromboembolic events.
- Prophylaxis and treatment of DVT and PE in patients with cancer and at increased risk of thromboembolic events.
Active Ingredient & Action
Enoxaparin Sodium works by inhibiting the coagulation cascade, specifically by binding to and activating antithrombin III, which in turn inhibits the activity of Factor Xa and thrombin. This leads to a decrease in the formation of blood clots and an increase in the breakdown of existing clots.
Important Notes
LOVENOX HP should only be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional. It is essential to follow the recommended dosing schedule and to monitor patients for signs of bleeding or thrombocytopenia. Patients with a history of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) should not receive LOVENOX HP.
